Photo Friday – Here’s one for the families
Following this week’s violence in Toulouse, Photo Friday remembers the Jewish families – and families around the world – whose lives have been touched by violence and hatred. And we give thanks for the brave men and women of the IDF who put their lives on the line every day protecting their country.
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6: 24-26).

A ceasefire — sort of
Seven more rockets rained down on southern Israel on Tuesday, just hours after it was announced that a ceasefire has been worked out between Israel and terror groups working out of Gaza. It is believed that as long as no major escalation of rocket fire occurs, then the current round of violence between Israel and Gaza will shortly end.
The Jerusalem Post quoted a senior IDF officer who explained that Islamic Jihad is currently working on “saving face,” and therefore Israel should expect to see some, yet limited, rocket fire. The officer went on to say that the Islamic Jihad suffered a heavy blow in the four days of Israeli airstrikes, including 20 dead terror operatives as well as extensive damage to the group’s infrastructure.

Palestinians lie about teen’s death
As Israel continues to cope with a hail of rockets from Gaza, the misinformation, half-truths, and outright lies in the press are flying fast and furiously. Thankfully though, sometimes the media gets it right:
Fifteen-year-old Nayef Qarmut was killed and six other [Palestinian] teenagers injured as they were on their way to school near the northern town of Beit Lahiya, with a spokesman for the Palestinian medical services blaming an Israeli drone strike.
“A drone strike hit a group of students who were walking by empty land on their way to school,” said spokesman Adham Abu Selmiya, describing an incident which occurred at around 9:30am (0730 GMT).
But the Israeli military, after looking into the claim, denied it had conducted any air strikes in northern Gaza then, saying the last time it had struck the area was in the early hours of Monday.
“From an initial check, there were no air strikes in the northern Gaza Strip since the early hours of the morning,” a military spokesman told AFP.
According to an AFP correspondent at the scene, there were no signs of any impact on the ground which could have been caused by a missile, with the most likely cause of his death being some kind of explosive device he was carrying.

Video: IAF targets Hamas weapons facility
The terrorists launching rockets from the site in this video had earlier targeted the city of Ashdod, home to 200,000 Israelis.
From the IDF blog: “The IDF is prepared to defend the residents of Israel and will respond with strength and determination against any attempt to execute terrorist attacks.” God bless and protect Israel’s fighting men and women!
