Israel’s Peculiar Postion
By Eric Hoffer
The Los Angeles Times, May 26, 1968

The Jews are a peculiar people: things permitted to other nations are forbidden to the Jews. Other nations drive out thousands, even millions of people, and there is no refugee problem. Russia did it, Poland and Czechoslovakia did it. Turkey threw out a million Greeks and Algeria a million Frenchman. Indonesia threw out heaven knows how many Chinese and no one says a word about refugees. But in the case of Israel displaced Arabs have become eternal refugees. Everyone insists that Israel must take back every single Arab.

Arnold Toynbee calls the displacement of the Arabs an atrocity greater than any committed by the Nazis.

Other nations when victorious on the battlefield dictate peace terms. But when Israel is victorious, it must sue for peace. Everyone expects the Jews to be the only real Christians in this world.

Other nations — when they are defeated — survive and recover, but should Israel be defeated it would be destroyed. Had Nasser triumphed last June he would have wiped Israel off the map and no one would have lifted a finger to save the Jews. No commitment to the Jews by any government, including our own, is worth the paper it is written on.

There is a cry of outrage all over the world when people die in Vietnam or when two Negroes are executed in Rhodesia. But when Hitler slaughtered Jews no one remonstrated with him. The Swedes, who are ready to break off diplomatic relations with America because of what we did in Vietnam, did not let out a peep when Hitler was slaughtering Jews. They sent Hitler choice iron ore and ball bearings, and serviced his troop trains to Norway.

The Jews are alone in the world. If Israel survives it will be solely because of Jewish efforts. And Jewish resources. Yet at this moment Israel is our only reliable and unconditional ally. We can rely more on Israel than Israel can rely on us. And one has only to imagine what would have happened last summer had the Arabs and their Russian backers won the war to realize how vital the survival of Israel is to American and the West in general.

I have a premonition that will not leave me; as it goes with Israel so will it go with all of us. Should Israel perish the holocaust will be upon us.

What do you think?

The article reads: “If Israel survives it will be solely because of Jewish efforts.” I can’t disagree more – Israel WILL survive, because God, their/my God, Who chose them so long ago, has promised this! I do agree that those who don’t stand with them will fall. This, too, is documented in the Bible. Why would anyone want to mess with that?

Anyone who is open minded enough to search for the truth themselves, and weigh the facts will see who the real aggressors are. The media is slanted in their views but the truth of who Israel is can be found in the Word of God. Although I am not of Israeli decent I stand with them because I understand who they are in the eyes of our creator.

I just can’t understand how one can be so blind as not to see Gods’ will, or to just ignore it. If we don’t stand for Israel then we can’t stand for God, therefore God won’t stand for Christians. I personally know that I don’t want to mess with that. All the glory be to God, Amen

The good news is that the Jews are G-D’s chosen people, Rose. And He is greater than ANY power that can come against them. G-D promises that not only will He stand up for His people and protect them, but He will come against ANY people come against them. What is scary to me is that I do not see my country standing up for Israel, and I certainly do not want to be on the receiving end of G-D’s wrath! THAT is scary! The Jews will be fine…it’s the rest of us that need to worry!

Not much has changed since this story was written. Let us pray for the leaders of our country and Israel so the world can be a better place to live. May God someday soon change all the posioned pens and tongues into lovers of truth and justice, defending and befriending those who are the apple of his eye.

Gods Glory and his Word covers Israel. The people should give him Honor. Fall to your knees people of God and Honor him. God holds all of our lives in his hands. Every victory comes from the Great I Am not the people.

If God stand for us who can stand against us? This is the #1 question whose answer is very clear all throughout God’s word. Israel are God’s Chosen people and they will not fail but I too have a stake in this as a believer .I am grafted in as a branch and they are the vine. You Israel are the apple of His Eye and I love and pray for you in the coming days as we stand as one in our Faith in the living God of Israel ~ Much Love and Peace be upon you
