Preacher sues own church over anti-Israel policies

Here’s a man in the U.K. who talks the talk and walks the walk — and good for him:

David Hallam, who preaches in Methodist churches around Birmingham, has accused his own church of wasting funds to pursue a vendetta against Israel. There are no Methodist churches in either Israel or the Occupied Territories.

Mr Hallam, 62, a former labour MEP, said: “What I object to is money which I am putting on the collection plate on a Sunday being used to fund a political campaign against the Jewish state. This is both discriminatory and a misuse of a charity’s funds.

“The Methodist Church seems to think it has a God given right to tell Jews how to run their affairs. It is very disturbing we are getting involved in a territory where we don’t have any members or churches.”

… in this church. It is where I learned to LOVE Israel. People, do some research! Shame on all of you. One person does not a multitude make. Phooey!

Praise God that this pastor is doing something. I see it as bringing it to the attention of others after having warned individually, so I can go along with the law suit. It is written to “overcome evil with good.” I say this with the hope that he will send the money to Israel, should he win the lawsuit. Hopefully!

John Wesley, along with his brother Charles, is credited with founding the Methodist movement which was an evangelical movement. Justification by faith, sanctification, and the authority of the Bible were core disciplines. Has the Methodist church exchanged truth, as contained in the Word, for political correctness? Let’s pray that God will raise up more Methodist clergy to defend His position on the children and nation of Israel.

My Bible says the Lord will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse her. I would be very careful how I treated
eople. Jerusalem should never be divided or bothered. That is David’s city. Leave it alone.

Mr. Hallam is making some hefty accusations against the Methodist Church. What “vendetta” is he speaking of? What “political campaign” against the Jewish State is he speaking of?? How is the Methodist Church attempting to tell Jews how to run their affairs?? These statements need to be back up with something before I can just swallow that..

Jesus Christ said,”If your brother goes to law against you to sue you let him ,and if he asks for your coat let him have it.”However Jesus did not say that a Christian could not sue over an offense ourselves….As a matter a fact He said,”It would be better for a person to hang a millstone around their neck than that a person should offend anyone of God’s little ones-i.e.”His people”.As believers we have a right to defend ourselves in lawful manner according to the law.Thou shalt not steal from God’s people!-Matthew,Malachai.

I think that Mr. Hallam needs to stop putting money into the collection plate instead of suing a church. That is clearly not scriptural. We are not to go to law against our brethern. Why not just leave the Methodist church and minister elsewhere and let the Methodists reap what they sow. God will deal with them.

Scripture tells us that whoever blesses Isreal God will bless them and whoever curses them God will curse them.Instead of suing why doesn’t he just leave the church or refuse to preach there any more and find achurch that is teaching the way he thinks they should?

What I find most objectionable about this is the term “OCCUPIED TERRITORIES”!!!
To whom are you refering when you use this term?
The JEWS who are the RIGHTFUL OWNERS of this land which was given to them by GOD almighty himself, or the arabs who have been ILLEGALLY preventing the JEWISH people fromregaining their RIGHTFUL INHERITANCE?
As a member of the SALVATION ARMY, whos founder WILLIAM BOOTH was a Methodist preacher, I find this to be upsetting but am not surprised by this news!
The sad thing is that it will only get worse as more & more churches turn away from the teachings of the BIBLE in regards to the JEWS & follow their own agenda!

The average member of the Methodist church doesn’t have a clue about the issues, politics and debates taking place within the Worldwide Methodist Church or their own conference for that matter, myself included. As a member of the United Methodist Church, I am most concerned with what is not being taught in mainline Protestant denominations. Unless and until we take hold of our Jewish roots and reaffirm the Bible as the definitive source of authority will will remain incomplete and ineffective. It is interesting, if not funny and ironic, that as a Christian I find myself looking to an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi for spiritual truth and guidance. It is my prayer that God will grant His church spiritual wisdom so that His will will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
