It’s divestment season again:
Both the 7.6 million United Methodist Church and 2 million member Presbyterian Church (USA) will ponder anti-Israel divestment at their governing conventions later this year. Specifically targeted are 3 firms that ostensibly profit from the “occupation:” Caterpillar, Motorola, and Hewlett-Packard.
Perhaps with this battle in mind, Friends of Sabeel-North America (FOSNA), a chief anti-Israel advocate among churches, has hired a Presbyterian minister as its new organizer to reach a “wider Christian audience.” Sabeel’s describes his goal as addressing the “increasing awareness among American Christians and the Palestinian Christian community and the principles required for a ‘just peace’ between Israel and Palestine.”
The Presbyterian minister mentioned above is Rev. Donald Wagner, who has referred to the return of Jews to their biblical and ancestral homeland as the “one hundred-year process of Zionist occupation in Palestine.” Why is it that whenever divestment is on the table, reason and fairness are nowhere to be found?

“I Stand for Israel”, a bold and straightforward statement. However, what does one do to demonstrate that commitment? As you can see, Israel’s enemies are bolder, uninformed and, in some cases, more violent, both in rhetoric and in actions.Join me and others to begin a long overdue journey to know more about the Jewish faith, the land and the people. Begin supporting Israel through donations, prayers, along with direct involvement and actions. Become an “Advocate and Ambassador for Israel”

If we follow the link, we see that D.Wagner (who is about as Rev.’d as Jeremiah Wright) now teaches at Eastern Mennonite University. Any Mennonite readers want to call up and say “Shalom- we got a problem!”

Just Proves The Bible Is True! I Timothy 4:1 says, “In the Last Days many will Depart from the Faith, giving heed to Deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.”

it has always been a problem in the church, people that either do NOT read the bible or those that wish to pick and choose what will tickle their ears. Some, even, with heads in the sand…

God said to Abraham, “I will bless those who bless you and I will curse those who curse you.” Gods words. Not mine.
12:20 pm
The Bible is the deed to the Land. As we all know the “holy land” was a backwater, depopulated denuded, and dirty before the Jews came back.
11:35 am
This appalls me. How can anyone claiming to be a Christian not stand up for the rights of Jews having a homeland that was Biblically promised by God to Abraham.
11:20 am
Have they lost their minds? or just stopped reading THE BIBLE?

Israel is, and should remain, a strong ally of the U.S. We should defend them against all enemies irrespective of the cost.

It is sad to see how far the United Methodist and Presbyterian churches have fallen from grace. They have become homes of bigotry and intolerance, I hope those who oppose leave these churches.

I think that minister needs to read his Bible! He needs to learn God’s will for the Jewish people. They are God’s chosen and we are to stand with them and not against them!
